ISIS cells carried out a total of 29 operations in Syria during June, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said in a report released on the 30th of the month.

The London-based monitoring group said that the terrorist group was most active in the areas held by the United States-led coalition and its proxy, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), in northeastern Syria.

ISIS carried out 21 operations in the region over the past 30 days, killing four civilians and ten personnel of the SDF. During the same period, Two members of the terrorist group were also killed by the coalition and the SDF.

18 of the operations took place in the SDF-held part of Deir Ezzor, while the remaining three were in Raqqa, al-Hasakah and Aleppo.

In central Syria, ISIS cells carried out eight operations against Syrian government forces and their allies, according to the SOHR. Three of the operations took place in the eastern Homs countryside, three others in the western Deir Ezzor countryside and the remaining too were in the eastern countryside of Hama.

As a result of these operations, ten government fighters, including eight who were members of Iranian-backed armed groups, and six civilians were killed. In addition, the terrorist group lost two of its members during attacks by government forces.

The numbers provided by the SOHR show that ISIS remaining cells in Syria are mainly active in areas held by the U.S.-led coalition and the SDF. Meanwhile, the security situation in government-held areas appears to be improving, even if at a slow pace.

The U.S. uses the war against the terrorist group as a pretext to maintain some 900 troops in Syria, most of whom are deployed at key oil and gas fields. Damascus rejects this presence and calls it an occupation.
