Russian Army Advances In Kupyansk, Repels Attacks In Other Directions …
The Russian Zapad Group of Forces advanced in the Kupyansk direction, improving the situation along the frontline, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on August 10.
In its daily briefing, the ministry said that the group also repelled seven counterattacks by Ukraine’s 14th and 44th mechanized brigades close to Novosyolovskoye, Sinkovka and Mankovka.
Kiev forces lost 55 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, an American-made M109 self-propelled howitzer and an American-made M777 towed howitzer during the battles in this direction.
Meanwhile in the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled 17 attacks close to Belogorovka, Novomikhailovka and Artyomovsk.
The ministry said that Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 290 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer, an Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer, an American-made M777 towed howitzer and two D-20 towed howitzers.
In the Zaporozhye direction, an attack by Ukraine’s 46th Airmobile Brigade was repelled near Uspenovka. Up to 125 Ukrainian troops, a tank, two armored fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles as well as three Msta-B, D-20 and D-30 towed howitzers were neutralized, according to the ministry.
The Russian Tsentr Group of Forces also repelled an attack by the 21st Mechanised Brigade of Kiev forces near Terny in the Krasny Liman direction. The ministry said that Ukrainian losses included 60 troops, three armored fighting vehicles, a Msta-B towed howitzer and an Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer.
In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces repelled two attacks by Kiev forces near Urozhaynoye. 130 Ukrainian troops, two fighting vehicles, a Giatsint-S self-propelled howitzer as well as Msta-B and D-20 towed howitzers were neutralized by the group during the fighting.
Meanwhile in the Kherson direction, Kiev forces lost 30 troops, two pickup trucks, a D-30 towed howitzer and an American-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar to Russian military fire.
The Russian MoD also provided the following details in its briefing:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralized manpower and military hardware in 146 areas.
1 ammunition depot of the AFU 28th Mechanised Brigade has been destroyed near Dyleevka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
2 command posts of 63rd and 110th mechanized brigades of the AFU have been hit close to Torskoye and Avdeevka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Air defense units have intercepted 5 HIMARS and Uragan rocket-propelled projectiles.
In addition, 38 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been shot down close to Pershotravnyovoye (Kharkov region), Gorlikovka, Georgievka, Vasilyevka (Donetsk People’s Republic), Chapaevka (Zaporozhye region) and Vasilyevka (Kherson region).
In total, 458 airplanes, 245 helicopters, 5,638 unmanned aerial vehicles, 428 air defense missile systems, 11,216 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,144 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,837 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,165 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources shared several videos showing the destruction of Ukrainian military equipment with artillery fire, anti-tank guided missiles and Lancet loitering munitions. Other videos showed a number of damaged American-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and a destroyed Dutch-made YPR-765 armored personnel carrier.
More than nine weeks into their counteroffensive, Kiev forces are yet to make any meaningful gains in any direction despite sustaining heavy human and material losses. Now, they are struggling to halt the advance of the Russian military in Kupyansk.
